Frequently Asked Questions

It is a written personal blueprint that lists your unique psychological triggers, warning signs of emotional relapse, physical coping strategies, and immediate emergency contacts to call if you feel vulnerable.

No. Addiction is a chronic, relapsing brain disease. A lapse is not a failure; it is a sign that your treatment plan needs to be adjusted, fortified, or updated.

A "slip" or lapse is a brief, one-off use of a substance followed by immediate recommitment to sobriety. A "relapse" is a full return to active, prolonged substance use. Relapse prevention aims to stop a slip from becoming a full relapse.

We utilize cognitive-behavioral strategies such as "urge surfing" (breathing through the wave of a craving), cognitive restructuring, distraction techniques, and immediate environmental changes.

With the client's consent, we share and review key aspects of their relapse plan with family members so they can recognize early warning signs and offer constructive support.
